The FA confirmed it was looking into the post, while Liverpool have said they will talk with Balotelli.
A spokesman for the club said: "we are aware of a post that has since been deleted immediately by the player.
"We will talk to the players about the issue."
Responding to criticism on Twitter, Balotelli tweeted: "my mother was Jewish so that all of you silent please."
He also described the reposting images as "my lucky moments".
However, the former FA Executive and current chief executive of the Jewish Leadership Council Simon Johnson says Balotelli had to face action.

"We call on the FA to investigate this not true social media posts and take action if appropriate if we are to succeed in kicking racism out of football."
